Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. orange cake mix
  • 1 3 oz. pkg. orange flavored jello
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup ice cold water
  • 1 8 oz. container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 3.5 oz. pkg. vanilla instant pudding
  • 1 cup ice cold milk
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. pure orange extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the orange cake mix according to the package directions and preheat the oven for a 13 x 9 inch pan.
  2. Bake the cake and allow it to cool completely, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
  3. Once cooled, poke holes all over the cake with a dinner fork.
  4. In a bowl, dissolve the orange flavored jello in 1 cup boiling water, then stir in 1/2 cup ice cold water.
  5. Pour the jello mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix the vanilla instant pudding with 1 cup ice cold milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until thickened.
  7. Fold in the thawed whipped topping and orange extract.
  8. Spread the whipped topping mixture evenly over the jello-soaked cake.
  9. Refrigerate the cake for several hours before serving to let the flavors meld.
