Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup cranberries, chopped
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons grated orange peel
  • 1/2 cup butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to the appropriate temperature (typically 400°F or 200°C).
  2. Combine self-rising flour, sugar, baking soda, and grated orange peel in a mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add chopped cranberries to the mixture and stir to distribute evenly.
  5. Pour in buttermilk and vanilla, then gently mix until a dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each into a ball.
