Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/3 c. sugar

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt.
  2. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add milk all at once, stir only until dough follows fork around.
  4. Turn out on a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 1/2 minute.
  5. Roll the dough into a 16 x 12-inch rectangle, 1/4-inch thick.
  6. Brush the rolled dough with melted butter.
