Ingredients

  • 1 qt. clams
  • 1 1/3 c. onion, chopped
  • 1/3 c. salt pork or bacon fat
  • 3 c. potatoes, diced or shredded
  • salt and white pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean and chop the clams to the desired size.
  2. Add onions to the clams and cover with water or clam juice, then add fat drippings or cubed pork.
  3. Cook for 30 minutes or until tender.
  4. Add diced or shredded potatoes and bring to a boil.
  5. Cook until the potatoes are creamy and the chowder is heated through.
  6. Season with salt and white pepper to taste before serving.
