Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Do not preheat the oven.
  2. Cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Blend in vanilla.
  5. Sift flour and salt together.
  6. Add to the creamed mixture alternating with heavy cream, beginning and ending with the flour.
  7. Spoon batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Place the pan in a cold oven and then turn the oven to 325°F.
  9. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out on a wire rack and cool completely.
