Ingredients

  • 2 sticks oleo
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups sweet milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until stiff; set aside.
  2. Cream the Crisco and sugar together; then add the egg yolks and beat well.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking powder, cocoa, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  4. Fold in the beaten egg whites gently.
  5. Pour the batter into a ring pan and bake at 350°F for 1 3/4 hours or until tested done.
