Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. (6 oz.) chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the oil, sugars, egg and vanilla; mix well.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to sugar mixture.
  3. Divide dough in half.
  4. On a greased baking sheet, shape each portion into 15 x 3-inch rectangle, about 3-inches apart. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over dough; press lightly.
  5. Bake at 375° for 6 to 7 minutes.
  6. (Bake 8 to 9 minutes for crispier cookies.)
  7. Cool for 5 minutes.
  8. Cut with a serrated knife into 1-inch strips; remove to wire racks to cool.
  9. Yield:
  10. about 3 dozen.
