Delicious stuffed mushrooms filled with savory sausage, garlic, and cheese, perfect as an appetizer or party snack for mushroom lovers and cheese enthusiasts.

Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 jumbo mushrooms
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 to 2 slices onion, chopped
  • 1/4 lb ground sausage
  • 1 container fat-free sour cream
  • 1 package Rothburry flavored croutons
  • olive oil
  • 1 package shredded Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Remove the stems from the mushrooms and set the caps aside.
  2. Brush the mushroom caps with olive oil.
  3. Chop 2 to 3 of the mushroom stems.
  4. Saute garlic, onion, olive oil, and chopped mushroom stems until fragrant.
  5. Add ground sausage to the garlic/onion mixture and cook until thoroughly cooked.
  6. Mix the sausage mixture with fat-free sour cream and shredded Mozzarella cheese.
  7. Stuff the mushroom caps with the sausage mixture.
  8. Top with crumbled croutons and additional cheese if desired.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
