Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup white corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Pour puffed corn into a large paper bag.
  2. Combine white corn syrup, brown sugar, and margarine in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  3. Simmer the mixture for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and add vanilla and baking soda.
  5. Pour the hot caramel mixture over the puffed corn and shake to coat evenly.
  6. Microwave the coated corn for 1 1/2 minutes on High.
  7. Shake vigorously after microwaving.
  8. Microwave again for another 1 1/2 minutes on High.
  9. Shake again to distribute the coating.
  10. Pour onto waxed paper and let cool before serving.
