Ingredients

  • 1 buttered hamburger bun, split
  • 1/4 lb. ground meat
  • 2 Tbsp. grated Cheddar cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 1 (14 3/4 oz.) can chili beans

Instructions

  1. Butter the insides of split hamburger buns; place the buttered sides down in a hot frying pan to brown.
  2. Heat the chili beans in a small saucepan.
  3. Shape the ground meat into a round patty 1/2 inch thick and place it in the hot pan next to the buns, turning only once when red juices seep to the top. Place the browned buns on a warm platter, browned sides up.
  4. When the other side of the meat patty has been seared, slip the meat onto the bottom bun and cover with hot chili beans.
  5. Sprinkle grated Cheddar cheese over the chili and top with chopped raw onions.
