Crackle is a deliciously crunchy and sweet treat featuring chocolate, caramelized crackers, nuts, and sprinkles, perfect for parties, holidays, or a satisfying homemade dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag chocolate chip morsels
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • saltine crackers
  • sprinkles
  • walnuts

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and sugar in a saucepan together about 10 minutes on low until white, thick and bubbly.
  2. Line a cookie sheet pan with plain saltine crackers.
  3. Pour the melted mixture evenly over the crackers.
  4. Spread the mixture thoroughly over the crackers.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes, until golden tan and bubbly.
  6. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chip morsels over the top and smooth out.
  7. Top with optional nuts or candy sprinkles.
  8. Refrigerate for several hours until hardened and then break into pieces.
