Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together flour and baking powder.
  2. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together softened butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and almond extract until creamy.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Stir in the mini semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  6. Shape the dough into crescent shapes or roll into logs and cut into slices.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Place shaped dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden.
  10. Remove from oven and cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.
