Ingredients

  • 1 box large shells
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 lb. roll sausage
  • 1 large Ricotta cheese
  • 1 onion
  • 1 pepper
  • 1 large container spaghetti sauce
  • 3 cups Mozzarella cheese
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Boil large shells until cooked, then drain and let cool.
  2. Finely dice the onion and pepper.
  3. Brown the hamburger and sausage in a frying pan while sauteing the diced onion and pepper at the same time.
  4. Drain excess grease from the cooked meats and vegetables.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with the cooked hamburger, sausage, onions, and peppers.
  6. Mix everything together thoroughly.
  7. Add salt and pepper to taste to the mixture.
  8. Stuff each large shell with the mixture to capacity.
  9. Spread a 1/4 inch layer of spaghetti sauce on the bottom of a casserole dish.
  10. Arrange the stuffed shells side by side in the dish.
  11. Cover the shells with a light coating of additional red sauce.
  12. Cover the dish with foil and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
  13. Remove the foil and sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the shells.
  14. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  15. Let the dish cool for 15 minutes before serving.
