Cream Soda Biscuits are light, fluffy, and subtly sweet biscuits made with cream soda, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or snack time, appealing to all ages.

Ingredients

  • self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 can cream soda

Instructions

  1. Fill a medium-sized bowl three-quarters full with self-rising flour.
  2. Make a well in the middle of the flour and add 1/2 cup of oil.
  3. Slowly pour in the cream soda while stirring gently.
  4. Continue stirring until a soft dough ball forms, adding flour from the edges as needed.
  5. Knead the dough gently on a floured surface a couple of times, without overworking.
  6. Flatten the dough to 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness using a rolling pin or flat of your hand.
  7. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter, drinking glass, or whatever is available.
  8. Pour a small amount of oil into the bottom of a Dutch oven or baking sheet.
  9. Place the biscuits in the pan and turn them over so both sides are coated with oil.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
