Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. margarine, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grease a 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
  3. Beat the margarine and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Blend in the egg and vanilla.
  5. Add the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, and chopped walnuts; mix well.
  6. Spread the mixture onto the bottom of the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
