Ingredients

  • 5 cups water
  • 2 1/2 cups pinehead oats
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • 1 pound sage flavored sausage
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sage

Instructions

  1. Cook water, oats, salt, and pepper on High in a covered crock-pot for 1 1/2 hours.
  2. Mix ground chuck, sage sausage, chopped onion, bay leaves, and sage.
  3. Cook the mixture on Low in a covered crock-pot for 5 hours.
  4. Remove the lid and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
  5. Place in 2 loaf pans; cool and refrigerate.
  6. Remove from pans and freeze until ready to use.
