Ingredients

  • apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Peel apples and cut into eighths.
  2. Cover the bottom of a 13 x 9-inch baking dish with the apple pieces.
  3. In a small bowl, toss the apples with 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and the egg until crumbly.
  5. Spread the crumbly mixture evenly over the apples.
  6. Pour melted butter over the topping.
  7. Bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes, or until nicely browned and apples are tender.
  8. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
