- In a mixing bowl, add sugar to lukewarm water.
- Sprinkle yeast on top.
- Let this stand for 15 to 20 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, dry milk, and sugar.
- Add the yeast mixture, corn oil, and beaten egg to the dry ingredients.
- Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal portions.
- Shape each portion into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise until puffy, about 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving.
