Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 heaping tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Combine and sift the flour, cornmeal, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the beaten egg and 1 cup of milk to the dry ingredients and blend the batter well.
  3. Melt the butter in a baking dish.
  4. Pour the batter into the melted butter in the baking dish.
  5. Pour a generous 1/2 cup of milk over the top of the batter.
  6. Bake in a 375°F (190°C) oven for about 45 minutes until golden and set.
