Ingredients

  • cucumbers
  • 4 Tbsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. powdered alum
  • 4 Tbsp. mixed pickling spice

Instructions

  1. Wash cucumbers and put them in a gallon jug.
  2. Add salt, powdered alum, and pickling spices to the jug with the cucumbers.
  3. Fill the jug with white vinegar.
  4. Put the lid on and let it stand for 3 months.
  5. After 3 months, wash the cucumbers quickly after removing them from the jug.
  6. Slice the cucumbers and sprinkle light cups of sugar over the slices.
  7. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  8. Put the slices back into a jar with the liquid made from the sugar dissolving.
