A decadent layered cake combining rich chocolate, crunchy pecans, caramel, and chocolate chips, perfect for celebrations or special treats that everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. (2 layer) German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. margarine
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels

Instructions

  1. Combine the cake mix, melted margarine, and 2/3 cup of evaporated milk; mix well.
  2. Press half of the mixture into an ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle nuts and chocolate chips over the baked crust.
  5. Melt caramels with remaining 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in a saucepan over low heat; stir often until smooth.
  6. Spread the caramel mixture evenly over the nuts and chocolate chips.
  7. Top with the remaining cake mixture and press gently.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes at 350°F. Cool slightly before serving.
