Ingredients

  • 1 cup soft butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup strawberry preserves

Instructions

  1. Combine the soft butter or margarine, eggs, sugar, flour, vanilla, and chopped pecans to make the dough.
  2. Spread two-thirds of the dough evenly in a well-greased 9 1/2 x 13-inch pan.
  3. Spread the strawberry preserves over the dough in the pan.
  4. Drop the remaining dough over the preserves so that the preserves show through.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  7. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
