Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup Crisco
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/4 cup Hershey cocoa
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend Crisco and brown sugar together until well combined.
  2. Add water, vanilla, and eggs; blend until smooth.
  3. Mix cocoa powder and self-rising flour together, then add to the wet mixture and blend well.
  4. Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  5. Spoon the mixture onto a greased cookie sheet, using a 1/2 ounce scoop for each cookie.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8 to 10 minutes until cookies are set.
  7. Allow cookies to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
