Ingredients

  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons Crisco
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 yeast cake
  • flour

Instructions

  1. Pour boiling water over the quick cooking oats; while hot, add the Crisco, salt, molasses, sugar, and cold water.
  2. Stir in flour and mix until you can stir no longer, adding more flour as needed to knead well.
  3. Assemble and mix the dough overnight if desired.
  4. In the morning, divide the dough into tins and let it rise.
  5. Bake about 40 minutes at 300°F.
