Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Duncan Hines cherry supreme deluxe cake mix
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 (1 lb.) can red sour pitted cherries and juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
  • Sweetened whipped cream
  • Ice cream or coffee cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine sugar and cornstarch. Stir in cherries, juice, and red food coloring.
  3. Pour the cherry mixture into a 9-inch square pan.
  4. Combine dry cake mix and melted butter or margarine until crumbly. Sprinkle over the cherry filling.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 to 50 minutes, until golden brown.
