Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup Karo syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cook sugar, Karo, and water to 248°F.
  2. Beat 1 egg white until stiff.
  3. Pour half of the hot syrup over the beaten egg white.
  4. Cook the remaining syrup to 290°F-300°F on a candy thermometer.
  5. Pour the hot syrup over the egg white mixture.
  6. Beat until the mixture loses its gloss.
  7. Add vanilla and nuts, then pour into a lightly greased 8x8 inch pan.
