Ingredients

  • 3 lb hamburger
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 can whole tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 can tomato juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 small can chili powder
  • 2 jalapeno peppers

Instructions

  1. Brown hamburger meat in a large skillet until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the cooked meat and cook until softened.
  3. Combine the cooked mixture with the can of whole tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato juice, sugar, bay leaves, oregano, salt, chili powder, and jalapeno peppers in a large pot.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 6 to 8 hours, stirring occasionally.
