Ingredients

  • 3 sticks softened butter
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 3 cups nuts
  • 16 oz. chopped dates

Instructions

  1. Dredge nuts and chopped dates in 1/2 cup sifted flour.
  2. Cream together softened butter, cream cheese, and sugar.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in vanilla and salt.
  5. Stir in the remaining sifted flour, then fold in the floured nuts and dates.
  6. Pour the batter into three loaf pans.
  7. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool before removing from pans; may need additional baking time.
  9. Loaves freeze well for storage.
