Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
  • 1 c. pecans, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 2 unbaked 9-inch pastry shells

Instructions

  1. Combine dates, pecans, and flour; stir well and set aside.
  2. Combine sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and salt in a large mixing bowl; mix well.
  3. Add egg yolks and milk to the mixture, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Stir in the chopped pecans and dates.
  5. Pour the filling into two unbaked 9-inch pastry shells.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 40 minutes or until set and golden.
