De "Lows" Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 5 eggs, beaten
  • 13 to 14 slices toasted bread, made into bread crumbs
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 pt. half and half
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Toast bread before making bread crumbs.
  2. (This is the secret for making good bread pudding.)
  3. Scald milk and pour over bread crumbs. Cool and add remaining ingredients, mixing well.
  4. Pour into an 1 1/2-quart casserole pan.
  5. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
