Ingredients

  • 1 cup salt
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 to 1 1/4 cups sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix salt, flour, and sugar; knead the dough for about 20 minutes until of desired consistency.
  2. Use the dough creatively to make baskets by weaving on the back side of a Pyrex baking dish.
  3. Roll out the dough and cut out shapes with cookie cutters to make ornaments.
  4. Prick the shapes to prevent air bubbles from forming.
  5. Dampen pieces to make them stick together as needed.
  6. Bake at 300°F (150°C) until golden brown.
  7. Paint with acrylic paint if desired, then varnish and dry.
