Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients.
  3. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove mixer from the batter.
  5. Stir in boiling water; batter will be very thin.
  6. Pour into a greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 to 40 minutes.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes on a rack.
  9. Remove from the pan.
  10. Cool completely before serving.
