Ingredients

  • 2 lb. red kidney beans
  • 2 lb. bacon
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. oil

Instructions

  1. Cook the red kidney beans until mushy, adding 1 tablespoon of oil during cooking.
  2. Fry the bacon until crisp, then cool and crumble it.
  3. Save the bacon grease from the pan.
  4. Mash or blend the cooked beans until smooth.
  5. Add the crumbled bacon, salt, and pepper to the beans and mix well.
  6. Add the bacon grease and blend again, or mash the mixture until desired consistency is reached.
