Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cakes yeast
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk, scalded and cooled
  • 4 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar in lukewarm milk.
  2. Add 1 1/2 cups of sifted flour and beat until smooth.
  3. Cover and let rise in a warm place, free from drafts, until light, about 45 minutes.
