Ingredients

  • bread slices
  • worcestershire sauce
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef with tomatoes or sauce using a blender or food processor.
  2. Add worcestershire sauce and salt to the mixture.
  3. Knead the mixture thoroughly by hand.
  4. Spread the mixture 1/4-inch thick on a slice of day-old bread, ensuring the meat covers the bread entirely.
  5. Place the bread with the meat mixture under the broiler and cook until the meat is done and develops a little brown crust.
  6. Top with narrow slices of cheese and return to the broiler until the cheese melts.
  7. Serve with sweet pickles, olives, and a drink.
