Devil'S Food Float Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. flour
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 12 marshmallows, quartered
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Boil 1/2 cup sugar in 1 1/2 cups water 5 minutes.
  2. Pour into casserole dish and add marshmallows.
  3. Cream butter and the other 1/2 cup sugar.
  4. Add vanilla.
  5. Stir in dry ingredients alternately with milk.
  6. Add nuts and blend.
  7. Drop from large spoon over marshmallows.
  8. Cover dish and bake in 350° oven for 45 minutes or until done.
