Diane's Stuffed Cabbage features tender cabbage leaves filled with seasoned ground meat and rice, baked in tomato sauce topped with Parmesan for a hearty, comforting meal ideal for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb ground meat
  • 1 cup Minute rice, cooked
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 can medium tomato sauce
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel cabbage leaf by leaf, trying not to break the leaf.
  2. Place the cabbage leaves in boiling salted water and cook until tender, then drain.
  3. Mix ground meat with cooked rice, beaten egg, salt, pepper, and garlic salt or powder.
  4. Place a small handful of the meat mixture in the center of each cooked cabbage leaf.
  5. Roll up the cabbage leaf, tucking in sides, and fasten with toothpicks.
  6. Place the stuffed cabbage rolls in a 13 x 9-inch pan, and pour tomato sauce over the top.
  7. Sprinkle heavily with Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven, covered, for 1 1/2 hours.
