Instructions
- Sift dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, dry yeast, dry milk) together in a bowl.
- Measure lukewarm water in a separate bowl. Add yeast and 1/2 teaspoon of the flour mixture. Stir and set aside to activate.
- Cut shortening into the remaining flour mixture until well combined.
- Add the water mixture to the flour and shortening mixture. Mix until combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured board and knead until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and knead briefly. Pinch off pieces and shape into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
- Brush the rolls with melted butter. Let rise again until doubled, about 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
