  1. Scrub the potatoes thoroughly.
  2. Slice each potato into 3 or 4 slices.
  3. Place a 1/4-inch slice of onion between each potato slice.
  4. Place each potato and onion on double thickness of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  5. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and dill weed.
  6. Dot with butter.
  7. Wrap tightly in the foil.
  8. Place in a 400°F oven and bake for 1 1/2 hours.
  9. Turn the potatoes once or twice during cooking.
