Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup light or dark corn syrup
  • 6 quarts popped popcorn

Instructions

  1. Keep popcorn hot in a 350°F oven.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan; stir in corn syrup, brown sugar, and salt.
  3. Bring to a boil while stirring. Boil for 5 minutes without stirring.
  4. Remove from heat and add baking soda and vanilla.
  5. Pour the caramel over the popcorn and mix well.
  6. Turn into 2 large, greased, shallow pans.
  7. Place in a 250°F oven for 1 hour, stirring every 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven, cool, and break apart.
