Ingredients

  • 4 cups self-rising flour
  • a glob of Crisco

Instructions

  1. Combine self-rising flour with a glob of Crisco using a fork to mix.
  2. Pour in buttermilk until the dough is sticky but manageable by hand.
  3. Put a handful of flour on a clean surface.
  4. Knead the dough lightly 6 or 7 times.
  5. Pat out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. Cut out biscuits with a floured cutter.
  7. Place biscuits close together for soft sides or 1 inch apart for crusty sides.
  8. Bake at 450°F for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
