Tips & Substitutions

To achieve a flakier texture, make sure your shortening is very cold before cutting it into the flour mixture. If you don't have sweet milk, you can substitute with regular milk mixed with a tablespoon of sugar. For a fruitier flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon to the peaches. This dried peach roll pairs beautifully with Lemon Angel Cake for dessert lovers.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the dried peach roll warm, drizzled with the syrup for added sweetness. It makes a delightful breakfast dish or a sweet afternoon treat. Pair it with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert experience. It also complements a cup of coffee or tea perfectly.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. If you want to keep it longer, refrigerate it for up to a week. To reheat, place individual slices in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds or warm it in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes until heated through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh peaches instead of dried peaches?

While dried peaches provide a concentrated sweetness, you can use fresh peaches. Just cook and mash them down, adding sugar to taste. Keep in mind that fresh peaches may release more moisture, so you might need to adjust the amount of sweet milk to maintain the dough consistency.

What can I substitute for margarine?

If you prefer not to use margarine, you can substitute with butter for a richer flavor. Alternatively, coconut oil can be used for a dairy-free option. Just ensure that it’s softened for easy mixing into the dough and for dotting over the peach filling.

How can I make this recipe healthier?

To make this recipe healthier, consider using whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour to increase fiber content. You can also reduce the sugar in the syrup and use natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. Adding nuts or seeds can also enhance the nutritional value and provide a nice crunch.
