Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized semi-tart apples (like Fuji or MacIntosh), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 pound butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Dash salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Make sure the butter is soft. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients by hand. As you mix, the apples will moisten the dough, and you'll end up with a stiff batter.
  3. Spread into a greased 9x7" pan. Bake for 40 minutes.
