Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup boiling milk
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Combine Crisco, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Pour boiling milk into the mixture and stir until dissolved. Allow to cool.
  3. Soften yeast in warm water with 1 teaspoon of sugar.
  4. Add the softened yeast mixture to the cooled liquid ingredients.
  5. Add beaten egg and flour to the mixture, stirring thoroughly.
  6. Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  7. Punch down the dough and shape into rolls.
  8. Let the rolls rise again until doubled in size.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 25 minutes.
