Pam'S Orange Bread

- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan.
- Add orange slivers and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves and syrup boils.
- Lower heat and continue to cook for 8 minutes.
- Add butter and stir until melted. Cool slightly.
- Add reserved orange juice and beaten eggs to the saucepan.
- In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add dry ingredients to the sugar-syrup mixture and mix until just blended. Do not overmix.
- Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
