- Sprinkle pecans evenly over the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Mix brown sugar and corn syrup in a 2-quart glass measure.
- Add butter, vanilla, and evaporated milk to the sugar and corn syrup mixture.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches the soft-ball stage (about 235°F to 240°F).
- Pour the hot caramel into the prepared pan over the pecans.
- Let the caramel cool completely at room temperature.
- Once cooled, cut into squares.
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and drizzle or spread over the caramel pieces.
