Ingredients

  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour and baking powder together three times and set aside.
  2. Cream the butter, Crisco, and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the milk and flour alternately to the creamed mixture.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  5. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased 10-inch tube pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until the cake is browned and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
