Ingredients

  • 15 to 18 slices white bread, cubed
  • 3/4 lb. butter
  • 1 lb. Velveeta cheese
  • 12 eggs
  • 4 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  2. Place bread cubes in the prepared pan.
  3. Melt butter and Velveeta cheese in a double boiler until smooth.
  4. Pour the melted butter and cheese mixture over the bread cubes.
  5. Add any additional ingredients at this point, if desired.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat eggs and milk together.
  7. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and cheese layers.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 to 24 hours to let flavors meld.
  9. Bake uncovered at 300°F (150°C) for 1 hour.
  10. Serve hot or cold, and reheat if needed.
