Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or oleo
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup eggnog
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 5 1/2 cups sifted flour

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggnog, nutmeg, and soda; mix well.
  3. Add enough sifted flour to make a stiff dough.
  4. Chill the dough.
  5. Roll out on a lightly floured surface and cut with cookie cutter or knife.
  6. Brush with slightly beaten egg white and decorate with candied fruits or colored sugar, if desired.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes or until delicately brown.
