Ingredients

  • 5 potatoes
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 1 medium onion
  • milk
  • 1 loaf bread, cubed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Peel and cook potatoes in water with 1 teaspoon of salt to cover them.
  2. Cut celery and onion into small pieces.
  3. Cook celery and onion in butter until tender.
  4. When potatoes are done, pour potato water over the cubed bread.
  5. Mash the potatoes; add a little milk to make them smoother.
  6. Combine the mashed potatoes, cooked onion, celery, and beaten eggs with the bread.
  7. Mix well together.
  8. Grease a casserole dish with butter.
  9. Put the filling into the casserole and place pieces of butter on top.
  10. Add a pinch of thyme or marjoram to the filling (optional).
  11. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
